Back in action!

OK, OK, I get it. It's been too long. Kelsey and Ryan are busy being...well, Kelsey and Ryan, so I figured I would take a shot at this blogging thing. Lots to cover, about a year's worth of adventures. I am certain my children's stories will be much more entertaining than mine and I will forget to tell many stories as 2011 was quite interesting. A whole lot of ups, downs, and all arounds...a bit surreal and much of it a blur, happy to be left in the past. Many lessons learned and many lives changed forever. Leaving it at that, most important is that the kids are happy and healthy and thriving in every way!
For Christmas, Santa transformed our art room/office into a rock studio equipped with microphones, instruments, a fabulous (and functioning) curtain (kudos to Santa's elves for making that!), speakers, and flashing lights. A big hit for our future rock stars.

Recap for Ryan: Ryan has moved on from karate, which was a fabulous learning opportunity. He is following in his fathers footsteps playing baseball, graduating from t-ball to machine pitch baseball. Quite scary to see how fast those balls fly towards my little mans face! He has try outs for spring baseball this weekend. Try outs. Really? He is 6. He stayed busy this past year with skiing, riding bikes, and just being a kid. He will always be my little man, the pleaser, the observant and sensitive child who is sure to break some hearts (unknowingly) in the future.
Kelsey begins gymnastics next week, which will hopefully help release some of her "spirited" energy (aka tantrums). Everyone says she is a clone of me and my response is "yes, she is definitely my daughter and this is payback". I couldn't love her more though, and would never want to squash her "spirit" as she has such a wild imagination, a strong will, and big heart. She too will break many hearts in the future, however i have a feeling this will happen knowingly and with intention!

Watching my son walk into school this morning brought tears to my eyes. Maybe because he is literally growing before my eyes, becoming independent, and evolving into his own person. It is amazing. I have these moments daily, which i am so grateful for. The moments that bring me back to reality and force me to slow down and appreciate the little things...the things that really matter which helps put everything else in perspective. These moments ground me and remind me of my purpose in life today to be a mother to my two unbelievable children. Nothing else really matters and I have learned to take things in stride, and with grace, as nothing is black & white. Whatever happens in this crazy thing called life happens for a reason and will always work out how it is supposed to. It is wasted energy to focus my time on things I can't control and much wiser to look forward, stay positive and focus my time and energy on things that I can make a difference with.

Like Ryan's room make over, for example!! Quite an experiment and project to take on while Dean was out of town. Painting 3 coats of dark blue on a wall with 2 kids in your presence is not an easy task, especially since they wanted to help tape and paint. Oh well, I let them and there are some inconsistencies and some blunders, but it is Ryan's room and he is proud that he got to help transform it to outer space!!

Hmm, I kind of like this blogging thing. Maybe it will be my new journal. It's kind of therapeutic!

I think you can click on the link to view pictures through Google Picasa from over the past year, I will work on getting more posted to that for your viewing pleasure. Below are 2 pictures of my little people. Until next time...Amy
