Decisions, decisions...

The Grant Family blog site - http://collingbournecorner.blogspot.com

Typical scene in the Grant household...can't you just feel the sibling love?!
July was a month full of important decisions (none that I had to make of course, but for mommy and daddy)!

I was going to change schools in September, but after going back and forth mommy and daddy decided to keep me at Goddard which is fine by me because I am so comfortable there. I will move to another class in September where I will have new teachers and get to learn lots of fun stuff...let the potty training begin!

Trying to figure out where Ryan will go to Kindergarten has been quite stressful, but I think we finally have a plan. We enrolled Ryan in Fisher Elementary, the school he was zoned for...great school, but not ideal. After looking at private schools (accepted to the castle school!) and trying to get into 2 top city schools through the open enrollment lottery (and not making the cut) we were finally comfortable with him going to Fisher after talking to some people and doing our research. But...last week we got a call letting us know that there was a spot for Ryan at one of the top city schools, so now he will be going to William Fox Elementary down in the Fan district of Richmond. Mommy is very excited because she will be able to go to Strawberry Street Cafe and get her favorite black bean burger all the time :) We are sure Ryan will love it, he will make lots of friends and is gearing up for school supply and back to school clothes shopping!! We are all looking forward to this new adventure and are so excited for Ry guy to go to big boy school.

Now for mommy, this means a bit more driving but that is minor when considering we are talking about Ryan's education. She will cut back to more of a part time schedule and turn into our chauffer taking us in different directions every morning and every afternoon, I can't wait to buckle myself into my carseat EVERY DAY. If she doesn't let me do it, ohhhhhhhh watch out world I am a girl who knows how to throw a temper tantrum!

I think I am finally growing out of my phase of the constant tantrums because I am able to do so much more on my own now (with a little help from Ry, mommy and daddy). I can put my own pull up on (sometimes both legs in one hole), I can put my shirt on and shorts on and can take my own socks and shoes off...still working on getting those suckers on though, man do I have BIG feet!!!! I know I have been a terror for the past month or so, and think mommy and daddy are pretty excited about the positive changes!

Ryan has become such a helper and I feel bad sometimes because he feels like I get all the attention since I still need help doing things (and trust me, some of this I can do on my own, but I LIKE having all the attention!!), so mommy and daddy are really trying to be equal with us and now mommy understands why mema and papa always give her and Aunt Jenny the same stuff, so there is no jealousy or hurt feelings. It is a constant struggle, but I think they are doing a good job with it.

It is what it is and if you want to know my opinion...mommy and daddy need a big break. Don't worry mommy, don't worry daddy, you will get your break when you are 70 something! For now we are trying to enjoy the ride, not sweat the small stuff and cherish every minute together because everything is changing so fast!!
Until next time...Kelsey (Ryan, Amy and Dean)
